The weather outside is frightful

February 15th, 2010 § 0

Luckily I had today off. So there’s really no need for me to brave the 7-9 inches of snow and crazy Cincinnati drivers. However, I’m thinking about walking over and going shopping at Rookwood because I don’t think I can handle another day of not leaving the house. Might be an expensive day, but grocery shopping should be a breeze. Until I can muster up the courage go outside I’ve mostly been dancing around the house to this song. And you should too.

48-hour whirlwind

Well. I figured it’s probably time for a brief update since my last few days have been so crazy.

My life has changed quite a bit since Sunday. I can completely check off number 1 of my New Years resolution list. I picked up a second job while still work promotions at Rewind 94.9. I’m also moving on Saturday back to Cincinnati so I won’t have an hour and a half commute anymore. Hooray!

I’m going to live in a house with 3 other people- two guys and a girl. So maybe I can put a tiny check by my 3rd resolution. I’ve also been working on my weight (safely of course) which was my 2nd resolution and I’ve lost 4 pounds. Woo!

Since I’m moving back I’ve also recently become aware of Cincinnati Recreation Commission. I found that basically for $25/year you can get a membership to 30 gyms in Cincinnati. Some you have to play extra for the fitness centers and classes. But I found a yoga class for beginners for $1/class with membership. That’s pretty awesome.

The only other thing new to report is that I have to wear glasses for the next week and a half because one of my eyes freaked out. Here’s my new specs:

Woo- Hoo!

Lucy has been sitting at the back door watching the snow for at least an hour. It’s pretty when you don’t have to go outside…

Personalized Goals for 2010

January 2nd, 2010 § 0

1. Find a second part-time job/become less dependent on my parents. As much as I’ve appreciated all the help from my family its so difficult to feel grown-up when they’re supporting me. They have allowed me to finally get a job in my field that I love but it’s only part time. So finding my own stability is the main goal in 2010.

2. Lose Weight. I know I know. This is fairly typical but without a job in 2009 I gained about 20 pounds. So that’s something else I really want to work on. And I have 3 weddings this year so it might be a good idea on top of the health benefits.

3. Make new friends. This might seem strange, but my 2009 had so much drama and craziness. After getting settled back into Cincy I want to become more open and personable with people. Especially making new girl friends.

What about you? Any plans/wishes for 2010?

Quite a difference since yesterday! And since I’m almost 100% sure my friends Natalia and Jenny don’t read my blog this is what I got them for Christmas:

Early Christmas present!

December 18th, 2009 § 0

Today I found out that I have been hired as the new promotions coordinator at Rewind 94.9 in Cincinnati! What an awesome early Christmas present for me! I start January 1st but as of right now it’s only part time. Since it’s winter so not a lot is going on. So I’m going to try to stay a few hours at Bath and Body Works in the meantime.

Additionally since it was so warm outside Lucy was patrolling the backyard against the recent onslaught of bunnies.

Call me Domestic Diva

December 14th, 2009 § 0

Today despite not having much to do I decided to not waste my day by taking a few trial runs on holiday baking. The first recipe I tried was pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing. I got the recipe from a friend from work brought the bars in for Black Friday. I’m not a fan of pumpkin pie so I passed on trying one until two days later when I worked a late floorset. The ladies I worked with raved about how good they were and I had to have one. It was just as good as they had said. So today I tried baking it myself:

Pre-baking:

Pumpkin bars in the works

Post Baking and cut into bars:

Once these were finished baking I made some Puppy chow! Sorry Lucy… despite the name this isn’t for you! But don’t be sad. She got a regular dog treat after I took the photo.

Cute lucy

As a Christmas present for myself I bought icing tips. This was my trial run and it was pretty fun. I ended up deciding just to ice them regularly because I had a lot of leftover icing and since they were all different they looked a little silly.
