I’m on a total Buffy kick right now.

I’ve been rewatching the series over the last couple months and I just started season 7. And I’ve gone back to buying comic books. And in general a bit geeked out over the Dr. Horrible movie.  I love Joss Whedon.

‘Avengers’ looking for extras July 15-16. Weekend trip to Cleveland anyone?

If you want to be a paid extra in “The Avengers,” the Marvel action film shooting here this summer, head to Cleveland July 15-16.

The open casting call will be for both northeastern and Southwestern Ohio, according to Kristen Erwin, Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Film Commission executive director.

Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) star in the $170 million production directed by Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).

Producers will see people 18 and older noon-4 p.m. July 15 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 16 at the Holiday Inn, 6001 Rockside Road, in Independence, a Cleveland suburb.

People should “come well-groomed and wearing your best business executive outfit,” the call sheet said. Adults also may submit “current pic tures of children under 18” for consideration as possible extras.

Filming started April 26 in Albuquerque.

Production will move this summer to Ohio, mostly in the Cleveland area.

“The Avengers” will shoot two weeks within 30 miles of Cincinnati, Erwin said in May. She has not said when or where.

Gov. John Kasich lured the comic book superheroes to Ohio in March with state filmmaking tax credits.

It appears that I will be seeing Thor sometime this weekend.

Yes, Joss Whedon directed a scene in Thor

[SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO ARE VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT EVEN THE VAGUEST OF SPOILERS.] If, like a good Marvel monkey, you stuck around for the now-obligatory stinger at the end of Thor and sensed that the scene had jettisoned the Shakespearean gravitas of director Kenneth Branagh for a vaguely quippier tone, you were onto something. As it turns out, that final tag was directed by Joss Whedon as a warm-up to his upcoming The Avengers, several months after Thor had finished its own principal photography. The revelation was made by actor Stellan Skarsgard, who features in that scene, and whose character provides some link to the big blockbuster team-up in 2012—although Skarsgard obviously won’t share any further details. Anyway, consider that scene a test run for Whedon’s Avengers work and make premature judgment accordingly, we guess.
